Our Hong Kong CNY Trip'10

We have been planning and discussing for a family holiday on CNY'10 since November last year. Walking along People Park Centre and browsing through the travel agents, finally we confirmed our trip to Hongkong (5 days F&E + Disneyland Resort Stay).

This day finally came so far. A day that we have been looking very forward to. Especially the fun of going on a holiday as a family. Well, the last holiday we all went as a family was to Taiwan before my wedding.

Sad to say, this trip turned out to be not a pretty successful one. My dear precious little boy was ill on the very first day of CNY. He could not enjoy the seasons greetings and the fun get-together with my relatives at Grandma's place. He's coughing very badly and was whizzing (panting). It was after the reunion lunch at Grandma's place that we decided to bring him over to KK Hospital. Was given the inhaler and medication where he gets better.

After much discussion and rounds of monitoring him where he didn't get much better, we all decided to leave him back in Singapore as we were worried that his condition may deteriorated badly there. I left the airport alone and the feeling wasn't good, almost teared while on the way to airport. All prior preparation done went into the drain!

Well, no choices given and i could not turned back the time. we decided to proceed as planned.

Hong Kong, Here we come!

We reached Hong Kong International Airport by CX and first day was a free & easy day for us. The Hotel that we stayed has 2 buildings of shopping malls and we decided to pop by for some shopping. Prior to that, we have to fill up the 'sounding' tummy. Yes, 'YAM CHA'... the hongkong people really enjoyed the art of yam cha, the chinese restaurants are always packed with crowd. After the round of tim sum, we decided to go for a walk and replenish our drinking waters and tibits. It was then freezing cold when we walked out of the mall and to 7-11 stores... freaking cooling 16degree... comes dinner time, we has a 'special dinner' at the hotel room. We brought back some Roasted Pigeon (the famous 'lu ge') from a restaurant, some yummy nice hong kong maggie mee, fruits & drinks (beer) for our dinner. The late tim sum wasn't digested yet therefore, we decided for some finger food in the hotel room.

2nd day was a city tour where we visited the Repulse Bay & temples, was being introduced to Mr Stanley Ho's residence and Mr Li Jia Cheng's residence along the hills. Aside to that, we passed by Ms Ling Dai's tomb, Mr Jackie Chan's residence, Chairman of Bank of America's residence too. It was a eye-opening! The scenes was fabulous. Visited JUMBO floating restaurant, took on cable car to the mountains, some jewellery boutiques and herbal medication halls for sight-viewing.

Mr Li's Yacht!

Disneyland Resort Stay at Hollywood Hotel, we met the Disneys! If little Darrell were to join us for this trip, he should be over the sky, grinning from one end to the other end of the mouth, as he will get to see all his favourite characters of the Disneys. Meals at the Disneyland is scary shocking expensive. A simple fast-food meal for 4 persons can cost easily S$70... Did some shopping at the Disney Stores too, spent half a day at Disneyland since my old folks don't really appreciate the Disneys and we got an early hotel transfer to Shatin, our next 5-stars hotel. Oh, we managed to catch the Disney fireworks just infront of our hotel lobby, under the drizzling rain.

We celebrate Brother's 22nd day at Disneyland with a Disney Mango Pudding.

Shatin's on our own, my Brother was well-informative and able to bring us around too. Visited the Celebrity Avenue (to see hand prints of famous celebrity of Hong Kong), Temple Street & 'Woman' Street. We tasted the famous desert chain, mango drink/desert! it's refreshing and sweet, but to have it under the freezing weather of 11degree is simple iceberg. Comes next, the 'smelly tofu'... hmm, seriously this is more 'strong smell' than the ones in taiwan where we had tried before. The pungent smell in our mouth is unbearable that we have to rinse our mouth with drinking water and pop mints after that.... *-*

Dinner was on our own, asked around the hotel for some steamboat dinner with piping hot boiling soup as naturally we were craving for hot soup under the weather. Temperature on street came down to 11degree and after walking on the cold windy streets, we found it. WOW! This restaurant serves really yummy steamboat in hong kong style. I simply love the sauces and garlics they have it for steamboat. Their ingredient looks similar to ours here but of course some speciality like 'tau kee roll - huge one'... it's being soaked into the seafood soup base and when dipped into the chilli/garlic sauce and place it in your mouth...it's simply heavenly!

Oh, before i forget, we spent an hour just queuing for the dinner.

We spent most the holiday time at Hong Kong on "yum cha', eating and coffee. My brother guided us on the MTR to 'Lin Tai Sun' temple. It's another different feel of travelling on our own free and easy compared to the guided rushing tour & long bus journey. Overall, personally i think that Hong Kong is much similar to Singapore lifestyle but pricing in Hong Kong is relatively more expensive in terms of buying and shopping.

Well, the saying of happy times flies faster, we ended our 5 days tour to Hong Kong and everyday, everynight... my heart is missing this little one here in Singapore. When i called home, he would say "Mummy, Gong Xi Gong Xi, Wo Ai Ni... I miss u"... Well, we will definitely plan one more trip for the little boy again!

Some mis-communication with the local tour company really ruined our beautiful day at Disneyland. I was so pissed off with the way, they deal with mistakes. Such a reputation travel agent could tolerate such mistake. Well, since they already compensate us and apologies. I decided to forgive and forget. Will sure, to re-consider signing up packages from this agent in the future.

Overall, we have a nice time over in Hong Kong for CNY's festival. Just hope that this year, would be a better year filled with prosperity, wealth, health and smooth sailing for everyone out here.

Cheers!
